RESIDENCY
Bringing flag rugby directly to your afterschool program — free, structured, and built for every kid on the roster.

1
Rugby LA coordinates schedules and guides you through the season structure. To help with recruiting, we can conduct a one-hour clinic introducing the sport to youth at your site.
2
Over eight weeks, a Rugby LA coach visits your site to lead age-appropriate skill drills and movement games.
3
At the end of the season, every site is invited to participate in an intramural tournament celebrating the accomplishments of every participant in the program.
Our curriculum and coaching practices embrace concepts of critical asset development, as framed by the Search Institute of Minnesota. Coaches serve as positive adult mentors promoting inclusion, respect, and shared effort, with reflection built into each session. Students who rarely engage in structured activities develop confidence and healthy communication skills. Kids who have never thought of themselves as athletes discover they are.
Every Rugby LA coach is: • USA Rugby certified as Non-Contact Coach • World Rugby certified as Non-Contact Referee • Certified in Safety and Concussion protocols • Certified by US Safe Sport • Background check and Live Scan completed
Rugby LA recruits players from college and adult rugby clubs across L.A., providing an opportunity to play it forward coaching in the neighborhoods where they grew up. When young people see themselves in the adults leading their program, belonging follows naturally.
