Whether you're bringing a team from work or showing up on your own, there's a role that fits the time you have.
After a single training day, volunteer coaches visit one site for one hour a week over a four-to-eight-week season. The schedule is the hard part, so we'll be honest with you about fit before anyone commits.
Scoring tables, check-in, medals, crowd wrangling. Our regional tournaments and signature events, the Rugby LA Fall Classic and the Rugby LA Cup, are the best day of the season, and they run on volunteers.
Assemble the equipment kits that go out to schools, help with tournament setup, or lend a hand with the logistics that keep seasons running. Great for teams, and no rugby experience needed.
Your employer may pay for your hours. Many companies offer volunteer grants that donate to Rugby LA based on the time you give. Search your company →
Because coaching means working directly with kids at school and afterschool sites, volunteer coaches complete the same clearances as our staff: a background check, California Live Scan fingerprinting, and SafeSport training (about 90 minutes online). It isn't instant, but we'll walk you through it. Tournament and equipment volunteers at public venues typically don't need these.
Rugby LA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the physical and social-emotional wellbeing of youth through the sport of rugby.
